The Joint Coordinating Board (JCB) of the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) acts as the governing body of the Special Programme and is responsible for its overall policy and strategy. This paper describes the background and composition of JCB TDR. At present, two Member States from the South-East Asia Region (India and Thailand) are members of JCB under paragraph 2.2.1 until 31 December 2017. The Regional Committee in September 2014 nominated Maldives to represent the Region under paragraph 2.2.2 until 31 December 2018. The Seventy-first Session of the Regional Committee in 2018 would be required to take a decision on the regional membership for a four-year period from 2019 onwards.Presently, there is no representation from the South-East Asia Region for JCB membership under paragraph 2.2.3. This report was noted by the High-Level Preparatory (HLP) Meeting and is submitted to the Sixty-eighth Session of the Regional Committee.
