Thông tin chi tiết
Tóm tắt : | The tsunami experience of December 2004 exposed the fact that disaster preparedness plans of Member States to meet the mental health and psychosocial needs of the community in times of disaster had their limitations. It also highlighted the need for every country, affected or unaffected by the tsunami, to prepare a detailed plan to meet any situation arising out of future disasters. Mental health and psychosocial relief efforts should be an integral part of disaster preparedness plans. The best levels of disaster preparedness can be achieved by having a strong community mental health system in place which can be rapidly scaled up to meet the needs of the affected people in case of disasters. This intercountry meeting will further strengthen WHO's initiative in supporting the governments of Member Countries in their efforts to formulate plans for mental health and the psychosocial aspects of disaster preparedness. |
