Thông tin chi tiết

Tóm tắt :

71 p. This publication is a report on a WHO Working Group meeting on health impact of different energy sources, which took place in July 1983. It presents a broad discussion of occupational and public health risks associated with current patterns in the production and consumption of energy in Europe. Conditions likely to determine future sources and use of energy are also considered in an effort to show how present knowledge about energy-related health risks can be applied in planning for the future. Current and future trends are examined in separate sections devoted to the use of fossil fuels, nuclear energy and alternative energy sources, including hydropower, wind power, solar power and biomass energy. The book concludes with a model matrix indicating effects on health for each step in the fuel cycles of six energy sources. A bibliography listing well over 200 related reports and other publications is also included. This publication will be useful to those responsible for health and safety within national health administrations and the energy industry, local and national authorities responsible for energy production and use, and members of the public whose lives and health can be affected by decisions on energy strategies in Europe.
