Tóm tắt : | 64 p. Malnutrition takes a heavy toll on the health, well-being and sustainable development of populations in WHO’s Eastern Mediterranean Region. Some countries continue to experience high levels of food insecurity, undernutrition and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. At the same time, half of the population is overweight or obese and unhealthy diets are a major risk factor for noncommunicable diseases, responsible for two thirds of deaths in the Region. In recent years, countries have made landmark commitments to end malnutrition in all its forms, and global targets to improve nutrition and reduce premature deaths due to diet-related noncommunicable diseases are included in the Sustainable Development Goals. At the halfway point of the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition 2016–2025, a new strategy on nutrition for the Eastern Mediterranean Region for the period 2020–2030 has been developed to support countries translate these commitments into action |
