A meeting on the promotion of drinking-water consumption was held in Moscow on 27-28 February 2020, hosted by the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of NCDs in Moscow, Russia, and co-organized by the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health, Bonn, Germany. The interdisciplinary meeting was attended by 22 participants, including experts from national and local authorities from seven Member States, the European Commission, academia and nongovernmental organizations. Seven sessions were held on the topic of drinking-water promotion in the Region over the two-day meeting.The meeting aimed to strengthen the understanding of tap water consumption patterns in selected cities, regions and countries and the identification of opportunities, barriers and challenges to promote the consumption of drinking-water. It provided an important platform to share experiences, learn from good practice examples and identify solutions in promoting the consumption of drinking-water. Expert input from the meeting will lead to the development of a toolkit to support the promotion of drinking-water for local decision-makers. |
