15 p. In 2009, WHO Regional Office for Europe and the WHO Country Office Kyrgyzstan organized a workshop with the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Health. Its participants included policy-makers, other experts, managers and partners. The purpose was to consider how best to develop the Optimized MCH Integrated Supervisory System (OMIS) in Kyrgyzstan, to improve maternal and child health. This report analyses the origins and value of supervision, the different levels of supervision required, the key programmes and activities on maternal and child health in Kyrgyzstan, challenges on implementation, and suggestions. A list of recommendations for the development of OMIS was discussed and agreed.
