Health is a crucial aspect of well-being. Accordingly, disability discrimination and barriers of any type that hinder access to and utilization of health care services by persons with disabilities must be eliminated. The proposed WHO European Framework for action to achieve the highest attainable standard of health for persons with disabilities 2022–2030 has been developed in consultation with Member States of the WHO European Region and reaffirmed through multiple stakeholder consultations with Member States and organizations of persons with disabilities. The Framework envisages that, by 2030, persons with disabilities and their needs will be fully included and considered in all health care planning, delivery and leadership across the Region. The Framework includes targets and specific actions for Member States, the WHO Regional Office for Europe, and national and international stakeholders, as well as a detailed monitoring and evaluation framework, to ensure that the right to health for persons with disabilities is fully realized. This information document was submitted for consideration and adopted by the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, together with the related resolution, working document and background document. |
