Thông tin chi tiết
Tóm tắt : | In March 2023, the WHO Regional Office for Europe and WHO headquarters organized a two-day technical workshop on the challenges to public health posed by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and high-pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) transmission in mink, bringing together national and international experts from across Europe. This meeting highlighted the epidemic and potential pandemic risks posed by the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses between humans and mink, and the need for a rapid, coordinated multisectoral response to protect animal and public health using a One Health approach. Experts provided recommended actions for surveillance, policy and partners, including employing a proactive surveillance approach to detect early signs of infection in mink and to prevent further transmission of high-threat pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 and HPAI to humans, and introducing effective measures to prevent and control outbreaks, including by limiting access to mink farms and improving biosecurity measures on farms. Applied research is also needed to better understand the transmission dynamics of these viruses and the effectiveness of control measures. v; 26 p. |
