152 p. The WHO Regional Office for Europe’s health in prison project was established in 1995. Since then, annual conferences have been organized for representatives of the network, national and international institutions and experts interested in prison health, the 2005 conference was organized by who regional office for Europe in collaboration with the WHO collaborating centre on health in prisons, department of health & home office, London, England. the main aim of the conference was to review drug related problems and harm reduction in prisons and develop recommendations for international collaboration in this field. The conference programme allowed for a general overview of drugs and prisons and more specific topics regarding substance abuse, tuberculosis and prisons, blood-borne viruses and criminal justice polices. More than 170 participants represented 33 European member states and international organizations. The speakers comprised policy makers and experts from both eastern and western parts of the WHO European Region. we would also like to give our special thanks to the who collaborating centre on health in prisons, department of health & home office, London, England.
