Tóm tắt : | 44 p. It is known that thermal insulation of the housing stock makes economic sense as it decreases energy costs. However, little knowledge exists on the potential health effects of thermal insulation, which may come with a decrease of air exchange rates. The housing and health program of the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health is therefore coordinating a local case study project to identify potential health impacts of thermal insulation of housing. In cooperation with a local housing agency based in Frankfurt (Germany), the project monitors the effects of thermal insulation of several hundred dwellings (intervention group) in comparison to dwellings without intervention (control group). This report provides an overview of the housing and health conditions during the baseline survey in Spring 2006. In total,374 households were visited and data was collected on the housing condition as well as the perceived health status of the residents. In addition, temperature and humidity measurements as well as selected health measurements were done. First results show that 45% of the households perceive the dwelling as cold in winter time, and indicate an association of low indoor temperatures and mould. In around 12% of all dwellings where temperature measurements were undertaken, the mean temperature was not higher than 18.5°C. A comparison of the intervention and the control group shows that there are no significant differences between these housing groups. After renovation, a follow-up study will be implemented in Spring 2007 to identify the effects of thermal insulation undertaken in the intervention group. |
