Tóm tắt :

Good nutrition in infancy and early childhood is the foundation of good health and development, during childhood and throughout adult life. Despite recommendations on the marketing of commercial baby and toddler foods, there is evidence of inappropriate promotion and poor nutritional quality of foods for infants and young children across the WHO European Region. This study aims to evaluate the nutritional composition of commercially available complementary foods targeting infants and young children up to 36 months available in the marketplace in Moscow, the Russian Federation. It was conducted in partnership with the National Medical Research Centre for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Researchers analyzed baby foods available in the most popular supermarket chains in Moscow and their websites. 227 commercial food and drink products for infants and young children were collected in the Moscow region (Moscow and Moscow oblast) and assessed against WHO criteria for foods to determine if they may be considered suitable to be marketed for infants and young children. The study found evidence of widespread inappropriate promotion, and several areas of particular concern were identified. iv, 45 p.
