Thông tin chi tiết
Tóm tắt : | The book provides a total view of the engineering design process. It contains systematic procedures of dimensioning and tolerancing; the application of mathematical formulae to practical design problems; comparison of strength and fatigue characteristics for various design forms; and the importance of scale models to the design process. The book devotes to basic ergonomic considerations and ways of using anthropometric data to produce designs which give maximum comfort and feeiciency to the user. Current trends such as wider range of domestic appliances indicate a need for functional products which are also pleasing to the eye. Aspects and aesthetics are therefore discussed with several case studies showing how to make the appearance of a design appropriate to its function, the user, and the prevailing styles and fashions. Other case studies take due regard of growing social influences such as developments in medical equipment, D.I.Y. products, and intermediate technology in the developing world. The essential role of new technologies in the design is covered with detailed descriptions of techniques and applications in computer-aided drawing and design. To underline the importance of inventive talent, a series of modern design innovation case studies is included. Finally, the whose process is brought together with the description of a complete design case study of an actual product, followed by a series of complete design assigments |
