This major now reference work is based on papers which were presented at the third International Fisheries Symposium hosted by the Humberside international Fisheries Institute. In recognition of the urgent need to prevent further degradation of freshwater fisheries, this volume describes and analyses the impacts of man's activities on inland waters, with particular reference to fisheries, and identities the current problems which managers of these aquatic resources face. Furthermore, the book offers detailed description and assessment of the effectiveness and shortfalls of techniques and management practices currently used in the rehabilitation of freshwater fisheries.
