Thông tin chi tiết
Tóm tắt : | During the war in Vietnam in the period 1962-1971, the U.S. military sprayed millions of liters of herbicides, Agent Orange, containing dioxin on more than 3 million hectares in South Vietnam, causing large effects on humans and the environment. So far, after 40 years, millions of hectares of degraded forests are not likely to recover, so the restoration of degraded lands is becoming more urgent. In this context, in order to prepare large-scale rehabilitation programs in the future, the Centre for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies has conducted a project to train human resources for Quang Tri province in order to restore and reuse the degraded lands effected by herbicides used by U.S. army during the war in Vietnam, funded by the Ford Foundation. The project has trained 232 participants as managers, technicians and skilled farmers (130 managers and technicians and 102 farmers) involved in 5 training workshops for technical and scientific knowledge on the topic "Restoration and reutilization of degraded lands effected by herbicides", supports 13 households to build compost tank to promote organic agricultural production, and guides to develop 17 project proposal ideas based on local real problems. Trained managers, technicians and farmers will expand the knowledge learnt about restoration of degraded land and apply it into practice of socio-economic development and local agricultural and forestry production. |
