The highly frequent “Déj à” in French can be a problem for Vietnamese learners who are unaware of how it is used. Another part of the reason is due to the influence of Vietnamese on L2 (French) acquisition. Therefore, this paper presents the author’s work designed to take a close look at its workings in French. Basically, its uses can fall into three categories on the basis of which the author gives suggestions as to how its meanings can be rendered into Vietnamese. It is hoped that as such, the work will be of some help to those doing French.
