jap published by: Tokyo : Japan Public Health Associationger published by: Frankfurt am Main : Deutsche Zentrale für VolksgesundheitspflegeRussian version of nos. 1-8 bound together (barcode no. 00072069)91 p. Presents information intended to help governments decide which indicators should be used to monitor progress in improving health care coverage and reaching the social goal of health for all by the year 2000. The book proposes four categories of indicators: health policy indicators, social and economic indicators, indicators of the provision of health care, and indicators of health status, including quality of life. Particular emphasis is placed on the information requirements for the various indicators, the principal sources of data and alternative methods of data collection, and the information analysis involved. The book also defines a list of twelve precise indicators for use as monitoring tools. The selection of these indicators, based on the WHO conviction that humanity has a right to receive adequate health care, marks a major move away from reliance on indicators of health status alone
