Deals with the protozoa, helminths and arthropods transmissible between man and lower animals, emphasizing methods of surveillance, prevention, and control that can reduce the incidence of zoonoses and foodborne disease. Parasitic conditions covered include toxoplasmosis, sarcosporidiosis, leishmaniasis, African and American trypanosomiases, malaria, Pneumocystis carinni infection, babesiosis, amebiasis, giardiasis and balantidiasis. The opening section concentrates on the significant economic losses caused by these infections, particularly in draught animals, meat, milk, and other foods and products of animal origin. Factors identified as influencing prevalence include the introduction of large-scale intensive animal production and social and cultural customs that determine food habits and attitudes towards domestic animals. The most extensive section concentrates on the principles of surveillance, prevention, control, and elimination of parasitic zoonoses. A system for classification of zoonoses is also presented. Other sections cover immunological tests used for a variety of zoonoses and list diseases in man, the causative organism, and the main vertebrate animals involved. Trong quá trình cập nhật, chúng tôi đã cố gắng liên kết thông tin kỹ lưỡng để có những tài liệu chất lượng cho bạn đọc. Tuy nhiên, với số lượng tài liệu quá nhiều, đôi khi không tránh khỏi sai sót. Rất mong các bạn đóng góp ý kiến để chất lượng tài liệu ngày một tốt hơn.

Mục đích và phương châm hoạt động

+ Liên kết thư viện và xây dựng nguồn tài nguyên bách khoa toàn thư về tất cả các lĩnh vực khác nhau.
- Chia sẻ dữ liệu trực tiếp trong cùng hệ thống.
- Chia sẻ dữ liệu gián tiếp cho các thư viện khác qua giao thức chuẩn thư viện: OAI-PMH, METS.
+ Phục vụ nhu cầu tra cứu tìm đọc tài liệu ở khắp mọi nơi trên miền đất nước.
+ Phổ biến rộng rãi di sản văn hóa, phục vụ hoạt động nghiên cứu phát triển và đổi mới sáng tạo của các nhà khoa học, cán bộ nghiên cứu - giảng dạy, sinh viên, học sinh, doanh nghiệp và cộng đồng.
