Tóm tắt : | EURO; HQEUR/ICP/CMDS 03 02 0614 p. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate and discuss the results of the mopping-up phase of Operation MECACAR. Plus in the autumn of 1998, to discuss and plan coordinated operations focusing on border areas/territories for the spring National Immunization Days in 1999, and to discuss problems and share experience of the various efforts used to reach the high-risk subpopulation in participating countries. The countries reported significant progress towards poliomyelitis eradication, particularly the substantially improved quality of the mopping-up operations. The major recommendations of the meeting included: continued collaboration and better coordination of mass vaccination campaigns in high-risk border areas to prevent cross-border transmission of wild poliovirus; achieving high quality in such campaigns (National Immunization Days as well as mopping-up operations); and acceleration of the implementation of high-quality surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) that meet the criteria for certification |
