509-517 The current international strategy for the control of tuberculosis emphasizes two different targets: a high success rate for the treatment of tuberculosis cases with an emphasis on positive sputum smear cases and a high case detection rate. Recent analyses indicate that while progress is being made towards successful treatment, targets for case-finding are not being achieved
