Tóm tắt :

Patient safety is a fundamental component of high-quality health care, yet challenges persist due to the complexity of modern health-care systems. Recognizing the need for systematic improvements, the Ministry of Health of North Macedonia, in collaboration with WHO, initiated efforts to enhance patient safety and quality of care. A technical mission in December 2022 assessed the national landscape and provided recommendations, leading to the finalization of the National Patient Safety Plan in December 2023. To support its implementation, a workshop was held in March 2024, bringing together key stakeholders to develop a Handbook for patient safety initiatives in health institutions. The Handbook provides a structured framework for implementation using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and focuses on six core intervention areas, including infection prevention, medication safety, surgical safety, safe birth practices, capacity strengthening, and error-reduction strategies. It emphasizes stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation, risk management, and sustainability planning. By providing a clear roadmap, this initiative aims to foster a culture of patient safety and improve health-care quality in North Macedonia. viii, 32 p.
