The discussion was based on documentation prepared by the Secretariat, background papers prepared by experts, including case studies conducted in the region, and FAO experience in applying BEAM models. Basic bio-economic data requirements are spelled out and efforts should be made to collect suach information in the region to enable one to apply to analysis to certain fisheries. Many more case studies would be needed before results of such analysis could be useful for management advice.
